Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT) by HEC
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, through the Education Testing Council (ETC), conducts the Higher Education Aptitude Test (HAT). This standardized test is used for:
- Awarding HEC scholarships: Scoring well on the HAT is a requirement for many HEC scholarship programs.
- Admission to postgraduate programs: Many MS/MPhil & Ph.D programs in Pakistani universities use HAT scores for admissions decisions.
Who Should Take the HAT?
- Students who already applied online for MS/MPhil & Ph.D admissions or HEC scholarships through the HEC E-portal.
- Students planning to apply for future HEC scholarship schemes.
- Students seeking admission to MS/MPhil & Ph.D programs in Pakistani universities that consider HAT scores.
HAT Test Versions:
The HAT is offered in five categories based on your academic background. Choose the category that best aligns with your 16 years of education (or equivalent):
- HAT 1: Engineering & Technology, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Physics (30% English, 30% Quantitative Reasoning, 40% Analytical Reasoning)
- HAT 2: Management Sciences, Business Education (30% English, 40% Quantitative Reasoning, 30% Analytical Reasoning)
- HAT 3: Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychology, Law (40% English, 35% Analytical Reasoning, 25% Quantitative Reasoning)
- HAT 4: Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Education, Media & Communication (40% English, 30% Analytical Reasoning, 30% Quantitative Reasoning)
- HAT 5: Religious Studies (Madrasa Graduates) (40% English, 30% Analytical Reasoning, 30% Quantitative Reasoning)
Important Dates:
- Deadline for Online Registration: July 23, 2024 (Apply Now!)
- Test Date (Tentative): August 4, 2024 (Check HEC and ETC websites for updates)
How to Apply:
- Visit the online registration portal: https://eportal.hec.gov.pk/hec-portal-web/auth/register.jsf
- Need help registering? Visit https://onlinehelp.hec.gov.pk/.
- We will only consider submitted applications. Applications that are saved or left incomplete will be rejected.
- Pay the test fee through 1Link/1 Bill Invoice using the generated consumer number.
- Verify your online payment on the ETC Dashboard after depositing the fee.
- The test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Get any queries or complaints resolved before the registration deadline.
Test Day Requirements:
- Printout of your Roll Number Slip
- Original CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) or Passport
Important Information:
- Bringing electronic devices (mobiles, calculators, recorders) into the test center is strictly prohibited.
- Uploading or sharing test booklet images is a punishable offense.
