Peshawar – Solar Energy Initiative Amid Rising Electricity Bills
With electricity bills skyrocketing, solar energy has emerged as the only viable option. Following the lead of Punjab and Sindh, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is also planning to distribute solar panels to those in need for KP Government Solar Scheme.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Solar Panel Distribution Program
The KP provincial government has announced a program to distribute free solar panels to 100,000 households in the region. Muzammil Aslam, CM Gandapur’s advisor on Finance, revealed this initiative.
Muzammil stated that each household will receive a complete 2-kilowatt solar setup, which includes batteries, DC fans, and inverters. The government aims to equip 100,000 households with these complimentary solar panel systems.
He also highlighted KP’s existing infrastructure of over 90 power plants that produce electricity at rates between Rs 6 to Rs 7 per unit, significantly lower than the Rs 27 per unit charged by the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA).
KP Solar Scheme
In the first phase, only protected consumers will be eligible to apply for the government-funded solar scheme.
