Law Admission Test (LAT) for Admission in Five-year Undergraduate LLB Degree Programme

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) is conducting the Law Admission Test (LAT) for candidates seeking admission into the five-year undergraduate LLB Degree Programme at any HEC/PBC recognized public or private sector university/institution, or affiliated college of a Public Sector University. This is in compliance with directives from the Honorable Supreme Court, as per its Order dated March 6, 2018, and Judgment dated August 31, 2018, passed in C.P.134/2012.

Who Can Apply for the Law Admission Test?

  • Students who have completed Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent/Grade 12 Education.
  • Students who have appeared in the final examination of HSSC or equivalent/Grade 12 Education and are awaiting results.

Test Pattern and Syllabus

The LAT consists of the following sections:

  • Essay (either in English or Urdu): 15 marks (maximum 200 words)
  • Personal Statement (either in English or Urdu): 10 marks (maximum 200 words)
  • MCQs:
    • English: 20 marks (Synonyms/Antonyms/Prepositions)
    • General Knowledge: 20 marks
    • Islamic Studies: 10 marks
    • Pakistan Studies: 10 marks
    • Urdu: 10 marks
    • Math: 5 marks (Basic Math)

Total Marks: 100
Passing Marks: 50

Date of Examination

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) tentatively schedules the LAT for August 4, 2024. HEC will communicate any changes to the exam date to candidates through http://hec.gov.pk and http://etc.hec.gov.pk.

How to Apply for LAT 2024?

Interested candidates should register online at http://etc.hec.gov.pk before the deadline of July 23, 2024, 4 PM. Applicants can download their Roll Number Slip from http://etc.hec.gov.pk a week before the test date and will receive email/SMS notifications regarding test details. It is mandatory to bring the Roll Number Slip, Original CNIC/Passport, and Original HSSC/SSC Marksheet on the test day for entry into the Test Center.

Details of Examination Centres

The test will be conducted in major cities, and applicants can select their preferred Test/Examination Centre during the application process. Centre selection cannot be changed after registration.

For online registration and application submission guidelines, visit: http://etc.hec.gov.pk. Ensure that applications are submitted in the “Law Admission Test” section under the “My Profile” menu panel. Only submitted applications will be considered for LAT.

Payment of Test Fee

The test fee should be paid using 1Link/1 Bill Invoice payment services with the generated consumer number. Verify online payments on the ETC Dashboard after depositing the fee. Note that the test fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
